Website updated!
Finally, I have been able to update the website with lots of information about Project II!
The travelogue represents the project as I experienced it. Since it's a bit long, the itinerary and repertoire list provide snapshots of the project. I'd like to thank everyone who made Project II such a success!
The expense account came to $12,780.93. While this is less than my May 15 estimate of $15,000, it is more than it might have been. When I set aside $3,000 for per diems for the six of us during our three-week visit, I did not anticipate the overwhelming generosity of our hosts. They provided more meals, accommodations, and transportation than had been anticipated, so the per diems proved a bit high: 25,000 pesos total per person (about $26 per day) for Nick, Beth, Maiya, Chris, and me for 20 days, and 18,000 pesos total (about $25 per day) for Becky for 15 days.
We made a group decision to pool our resources and donate 20,000 pesos (about $416) to each of the two institutions which hosted our residencies: St. Scholastica's College, and Casa San Miguel. This was an honorable way to spend extra money.
While my colleagues were wonderful and deserve all the money they can possibly earn, MFTP is currently an all-volunteer organization, concerned with keeping costs down. Therefore, I hope participants in future projects will understand if their per diems are not quite as generous as those received by the participants in this project.
I have not yet had a chance to upload photos from Project II, and will let you know via this blog when I do.
As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
